Malibu Moon filly unleashed in ‘TDN Rising Star’ debut performance
January 25, 2021
Slumber Party eye-opening 7 ½-length maiden special weight win in a Jan. 24 maiden special weight race at Gulfstream Park earned the 3-year-old Malibu Moon filly a ‘TDN Rising Star’ tag after she covered the seven furlongs in 1:23.05 while being completely geared down late.
The outcome was basically decided after three furlongs. Slumber Party, who led the field by a length through a quarter-mile in :22.50, easily pulled away on the turn and was six in front at the top of the stretch. She was rewarded with a stakes-quality Beyer Speed Figure of 88.
Slumber Party is owned by her breeders Gary and Mary West. The chestnut filly’s dam is Devilish Lady, who accounted for the Azalea S. (G3) among her four stakes wins.
Malibu Moon is the sire of 20 Rising Stars in his prolific career. Already the sire of three stakes horses this year, including the promising 3-year-old filly Moon Swag, Malibu Moon is standing this year for $35,000 S&N.
