Malibu Moon filly brings $300K at Fasig-Tipton
October 25, 2016
A filly by perennial leading sire Malibu Moon sold for $300,000 during the first day of the Fasig-Tipton October Yearling sale on Monday, the top price paid for a filly and second highest overall during the session.
Consigned by Brookdale Sales and cataloged as hip No. 144, the filly was purchased by Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm.
“(Bloodstock advisor) Tom McGreevy picked her out and Larry Jones liked her,” said Fox Hill’s Victoria Keith after signing the ticket. “She has an excellent pedigree.”
The gray or roan filly is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Magnificient Song, winner of the Grade 1 Garden City Breeders’ Cup S.
“She was such a gorgeous individual – she looked like a sculpture,” said Joe Seitz of Brookdale Sales, which consigned the yearling on behalf of her breeder Godolphin.
In addition to ranking in the top ten once again on this year’s General Sire List with Grade 1 winners such as Gormley and Carina Mia, Malibu Moon also is in the top 10 on the 2016 Yearling Sales list with an average price of $232,627 to date.
