Malibu Max chalks up first stakes win

Malibu Max drew off in the final furlong to take the $50,000 Paul Bunyan S. on May 5 at Canterbury Downs to give the accomplished son of Malibu Moon his first stakes win.

Owned by his breeder Novogratz Racing Stables, Malibu Max is 5-2-3 in 15 starts and has earned $238,280.

Malibu Max is the fifth stakes winner this year by top-10 sire Malibu Moon, joining the likes of Magnum Moon, Fly So High and Farrell.

Malibu Max, who’s dam Mindy Sue was a three-time stakes winner, was one of four stakes horses over the first weekend in May, with two stakes winners and graded stakes placings for Farrell and Captivating Moon.
