January 1, 1970
Leading First-Crop sire Maximus Mischief upped his tally to 13 individual winners on Aug. 18 at Saratoga when Dancing Mischief drew off to a seven-length maiden special weight win.
Maximus Mischief is the only First-Crop sire with a double-digit number of winners; his 15 wins and $767,800 in progeny earnings also both top the freshman list.
Going one mile over a muddy racetrack, Dancing Mischief came away well and tracked Khadullah through a half-mile in :47.64. Javier Castellano tipped Dancing Mischief off the rail with three furlongs to run, and he readily passed the pacesetter to take command, and then drew off easily in the stretch to win as much the best.
The winner is owned by R. A. Hill Stable and SVG Thoroughbreds and was bred by Stonegate Stables LLC and TLC Thoroughbreds LLC. Dancing Mischief’s dam Shoop is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Summer Doldrums.
