Kelso H. (G2) goes to Vyjack
September 27, 2014
Vyjack, one of Into Mischief’s most accomplished runners, added to his impressive resume Saturday with a near-flawless race to take the $400,000 Kelso H. (G2) at Belmont Park.
Most recently third in the Aug. 30 Forego S. (G1), Vyjack has now amassed over $800,000 in earnings. Among his six wins are scores in the Jerome S. (G2) and Gotham S. (G3). Into Mischief now has eight stakes winners in 2014, second-best on the Third Crop Sires list.
With River Rocks, Bradester and Itsmyluckyday battling it out on the front end for the lead, Vyjack sat patiently about three lengths off the lead through a half-mile in a very quick :45.64. Vyjack ranged up four-wide at the top of the stretch, wresting the lead from River Rocks in mid-stretch to hit the wire first by one length in 1:34.05 for the mile on the fast track.
Bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall, Vyjack was a $100,000 graduate of the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Spring 2-year-old sale, where he was bought by his owner Pick Six Racing.
