Kehoe Beach proves uncatchable in $300,000 Mrs. Revere S. (G2)
November 30, 2024
Omaha Beach earned his third graded stakes winner of the year Nov. 29 at Churchill Downs when Kehoe Beach led at every point of call to win the Mrs. Revere S. (G2) by 1 ½-lengths.
Omaha Beach is dominating the 2024 Second-Crop Sire list, leading in nearly every statistical category, with 11 stakes winners, 21 stakes horses, six graded stakes horses and $7.4 million in progeny earnings.
Kehoe Beach was making her stakes debut following allowance wins at Kentucky Downs (when she set a seven-furlong track record) and Keeneland in the past two months. Going to the lead right from the start once again, she controlled the pace, posting fractions of :48.57 and 1:12.49. When called upon at the top of the stretch by jockey Frankie Dettori, she had plenty left to hold her foes at bay and stopped the timer at 1:42.45 for the 1 1/16-miles on the firm turf.
“She’s strong but has pace and is very sensible,” Dettori commented after the win. “She uses her breathing right. She knows exactly how to race which makes it a push-button ride for me. When I pushed that button she showed a great turn of foot like she did last time. [Trainer] Wesley [Ward] was full of confidence going into the race. He even made me stay here in the cold to ride her and I wasn’t going to say no.”
Kehoe Beach is 4-1-0 in seven starts and has earned $438,518 for owner Thomas Bachman. Bred by John Bates, Ron Kirk and Michael Riordan, Kehoe Beach sold for $450,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling sale. Kehoe Beach is out of Sweet Awakening, making her a half-sister to two-time Canadian champion and nine-time graded stakes winner Are You Kidding Me, and multiple stakes winner Core Values.
