The chestnut colt, a $100,000 buy at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale, is the first Rising Star for Jimmy Creed, whose progeny are having an excellent 2019, with six stakes horses, 42 individual winners and more than $2.1 million progeny earnings to rank him third on the Third-Crop Sire list.
King Jack, who completed the six panels in 1:10.93 and earned an excellent 88 Beyer Speed Figure, rallied from just off the pace to win going away.
The winner is owned by Michael Stinson and was bred by Spendthrift Farm. He is the first foal out of Light Shine, who is a half-sister to graded stakes winners Tar Heel Mom and Scrappy T.
