Itsmyluckyday shines at Monday’s OBS 2yo Sale
March 13, 2018
Monday’s session of the March 13-14 OBS 2-year-olds in Training Sale included the much-anticipated first offering by Grade 1 millionaire Itsmyluckyday. The spotlight shined bright on hip No. 201, who had the fastest eighth-mile breeze, at 9.4 seconds, in last week’s Under Tack Show.
Consigned by Golden Legacy Stable, the colt went to Katsumi Yoshida for $525,000. The price was tied for the most paid for any lot by a First-Crop sire.
“He’s very athletic and smart. He was very laid back, but he did everything right from the beginning. He just kept improving every time. I think he’s going to be a real nice racehorse,” said Golden Legacy’s Blas Perez.
The well-bred chestnut is out of Briecat, a multiple Grade 2 winner of nearly $700,000.
Itsmyluckyday’s first crop, from 127 mares bred, will race this year. He is standing this year at Spendthrift Farm for $5,000 live foal.
