Into Trouble strolls in stakes debut
September 8, 2018
The 2-year-old Into Mischief filly Into Trouble took the $75,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie S. by a widening 2 3/4-lengths Saturday at Arlington Park in the filly’s stakes debut (VIDEO).
Into Trouble was in no hurry out of the gate in the seven-furlong contest and found herself some 10 lengths off the lead after the first furlong. However, it wasn’t long before she began to make up ground, weaving through the field around the turn.
Splitting horse at the top of the stretch, she stormed past pacesetter Thunderous Gem and won geared down in 1:24.97 on the synthetic surface.
“Her last breeze was really good [on Keeneland’s Polytrack],” winning trainer Ben Colebrook said. “She did handle the surface, but you just never know when they haven’t raced over it before. She’s very classy and just a really, really nice filly so we’ll enjoy this one and find something for her down the road.”
The winner of a Aug. 11 maiden race in her debut, Into Trouble is perfect in two starts and has earned $68,850 for Donamire Farm, who purchased the filly for $180,000 at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Into Mischief, in the top five on this year’s General Sire list, is ranked first on the 2018 2-year-old Sire list with more than $1.2 million in juvenile progeny earnings to date.
