Into Mischief’s Private Mission rolls in Torrey Pines S. (G3)
August 22, 2021
Private Mission gave Into Mischief his 99th lifetime stakes winner Saturday at Del Mar with a convincing 6 ½-length victory in the $100,000 Torrey Pines S.
The 3-year-old filly, who was a $750,000 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky yearling in 2019, has won three of her four starts for Baoma Corp.
Private Mission, who was making both her graded stakes and two-turn debut, pressed Lady Mystify through a half-mile in :46.71. She took the lead midway on the final turn, then quickly drew off and was all alone down the lane. She finished the distance in 1:37.89 under a hand ride.
“We’ve been wanting to try her two turns,” winning trainer Bob Baffert said. “She won with plenty left.”
Bred by Mt. Brilliant Thoroughbreds, Private Mission is out of the stakes winner Private Gift, whose siblings include Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Secret Status and multiple graded winner Alumni Hall.
Into Mischief next new stakes winner will put him in rare company, making him one of only eight active sires to have at least 100 stakes winners.
