Into Mischief’s Lane Way rules in Clocker’s Corner S.
January 1, 1970
Lane Way emerged with the lead at the top of the stretch and came home full of run to tally a 2 ½-length win in Sunday’s $100,000 Clocker’s Corner S. at Santa Anita Park.
The victory comes a day after another Into Mischief 6-year-old, Atone, won the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Inv. (G1). Into Mischief already has seven stakes horses and three black type winners this year as he begins his quest to top the General Sire list for the fifth consecutive year.
Lane Way, who had a trio of Grade 2 runner-up finishes over the last year, broke through with a big effort on Sunday. Carrying the MyRacehorse colors, Lane Way was midpack as the field made its way to the half-mile mark. Lane Way made a powerful move coming into the stretch and bounded away from the competition. He was all alone the rest of the trip as he stopped the timer in 1:12.05 for the “about” 6 ½-furlongs on the downhill turf course.
Lane Way now sports a record of 4-6-5 in 17 starts and has earned $367,560. He was bred in Kentucky by GWTW Horses LLC.
