Into Mischief’s historic momentum continues at Keeneland September
September 14, 2023
Four-time reigning champion general sire Into Mischief continues to break his own records.
A book 2 yearling at the Keeneland September Sale became the latest seven-figure yearling to sell for the historic stallion, adding onto the 11 million-dollar yearlings that sold in book one and three sold at Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga Sale earlier in the summer.
Hip 521, a colt, became Into Mischief’s 15th yearling in 2023 to sell for seven figures, when West Point Thoroughbreds bought him for $1,100,000 from the Clearsky Farm consignment.
The colt is out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Ever So Clever, who herself was a graded stakes winner on the track from an active family. His full brother, Everso Mischievous, is a rising 3-year-old on the track from the Brad Cox barn.
The record 15 seven-figure yearlings by a sire in a single year eclipses Storm Cat’s 13 sold back in 2005. Back in 1984, Northern Dancer became the first sire with double-digit yearlings to sell for a million or more in a single crop, with 11 doing so.
Incredibly, Northern Dancer hails five generations up in Into Mischief’s paternal sire line, and Storm Cat hails three generations up in Into Mischief’s paternal sire line.
Into Mischief currently holds a sizable lead in the 2023 General Sires race and looks well on his way to his fifth consecutive title. He is chasing Bold Ruler’s record seven consecutive champion General Sire titles.
