Into Mischief tops 2YO sire list once again
January 1, 2019
For the second time in three years Into Mischief finished the year as the #1 ranked sire of 2-year-olds in North America, with over $2.5 million in earnings and 32 individual winners.
The Spendthrift stallion also topped the list in 2016 and ranked third in 2017.
Figuring most prominent in his impressive list of juveniles is the colt Instagrand, who won his two starts by a combined 20 lengths, including a win in the Best Pal S. (G2) at Del Mar. Trained by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, Instagrand was given some scheduled time off and recently returned to the work tab at Santa Anita as he prepares for the 2019 Triple Crown trail. Instagrand was a $1.2 million sales-topper at the Fasig-Tipton Florida sale this past March.
Another colt who could have an impact on the spring classics is recent Remsen S. (G2) winner Maximus Mischief. Like Instagrand, this colt was a TDN Rising Star and is currently undefeated in three starts and will winter in Florida for trainer Robert Reid, Jr.
Into Mischief, who is booked full for 2019, is standing for $150,000 live foal this season.
