Into Mischief colt tops OBS sale at $1.3 million
April 26, 2019
One day after Into Mischief had one of the highest-priced fillies of the sale, he did himself one better when his colt brought a sales-best $1.3 million during Friday’s closing session of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds.
De Meric Sales consigned hip No. 1165, who went to Team Casse, with the ticket signed by Justin Casse.
“I don’t know that any animal is flawless, but he is very close to it,” Casse said. “He is very well balanced. He is a very good walker. He had a phenomenal (breeze) time and carried his speed through the gallop out. You have speed on the top side and distance on the bottom side, so we love the whole combination.”
The bay is out of the unraced Dixie Song, a half-sister to multiple stakes winner By the Light (Malibu Moon), who produced the multiple Grade 1 winner By the Moon. He had worked in :21 flat at last weekend’s Under Tack Show.
“The sire has been good to us. We are big fans,” said Nick de Meric. “I just put six Into Mischiefs on a van to Chad Brown that Tristan and I bought as weanlings and raised and trained. We are big fans of this amazing young sire.”
The four-day auction wrapped up for Into Mischief with an average price of $306,250. His overall 2019 2-year-old sales average of $390,220 is the highest of any North American sire with at least 20 lots sold.
