Into Mischief colt tops Gulfstream sale at $1.2 million

A beautiful son of Into Mischief brought a winning bid of $1.2 million on Wednesday at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale of 2-year-olds, the top price paid for a colt and co-highest price overall at the one-day auction.
Consigned by Eddie Woods, agent as hip No. 77, the bay colt went to Larry Best’s OXO Equine after a spirited bidding battle. Woods had purchased the colt for $190,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale.
Bred by Stoneway Farm, the colt had breezed a bullet 10 seconds flat during the Under Tack show. He is the second foal out of Assets of War, whose dam Added Asset was a graded stakes winner at three.
“I knew he would sell well, but I didn’t think he would get past $1 million,” said Woods. “He never missed a beat. He breezed fantastic and vetted really well. Everyone was on him, and that is what it takes.”
The sale-topper wasn’t the only highlight of the day for Into Mischief. Hip No. 86, a filly consigned by Niall Brennan, went for $775,000 to White Birch Farm, Inc. The filly is out of the unraced Indian Charlie mare Cashing Tickets, who is a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Conveyance.
Brennan also consigned hip No. 17, a filly that went to Mike Ryan, agent, for $375,000. The filly’s dam, Palomanegra, is a sister to the multiple stakes winner Falling Sky.
Into Mischief had a total of six lots sell on the day, all bringing at least $200,000, for an average of $516,667.
