Into Mischief colt nabbed for $300K at F-T July
July 11, 2017
A $300,000 yearling by leading sire Into Mischief was the second-highest price paid for a colt at the Fasig-Tipton July sale held on Tuesday at the central Kentucky auction house.
Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds was the high bidder for hip No. 235, consigned by Paramount Sales, agent and bred by Gabriel Duignan, Bruce and Patsy Pieratt, Pat Costello and Petaluma.
“We were just sort of waiting for this colt–we thought he was the best horse in the sale,” Randy Hartley said. “Into Mischief is just one of the most honest stallions there is out there right now.
“He was a good size and really correct,” Hartley added. “We thought he had the whole package for what we were looking for here. We loved a lot of the other ones, but a lot of times when we stretch a lot, we like to have the blue chips, the more proven stallions.”
The bay colt is out of Diamond Fancy Free, a half-sister to multiple Grade One winner First Samurai.
