Into Mischief 2yos take spotlight for Friday’s Breeders’ Cup
November 4, 2020
With nine horses in this year’s Breeders’ Cup, Into Mischief has more runners than any other sire. Friday’s card, which is exclusively for 2-year-olds, has four entries for the nation’s leading sire.
The action begins in the first Breeders’ Cup race of the day, the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2) at 2:30 p.m. ET, with Into the Sunrise, who drew post 11 in the 14-horse field. The bay colt was a very close second in Woodbine’s Soaring Free S., his only one-turn turf stakes outing to date. Into the Sunrise, who was a $325,000 Keeneland September yearling, is owned by M Racing Group LLC and was bred by Edward Seltzer and Beverly Anderson.
Into Mischief has the formidable duo of Abarta and Mutasaabeq in the Juvenile Turf, race seven at 3:10 p.m. The duo ran 1-2 in Keeneland’s Bourbon S. (G2) a month ago, with Mutasaabeq getting the win. Both showed tremendous turn of foot while coming from far back at the top of the stretch to take the exacta.
Abarta drew post three, while Mutasaabeq is in post six in the full field of 14. Abarta races for Donegal Racing and Newtown Anner Stud Farm and was bred by Mt Brilliant Broodmares, while Mutasaabeq carries the silks of Shadwell Stable and was bred by BlackRidge Stables.
Into Mischief’s final entry on Friday is the undefeated Dayoutoftheoffice in the $2 Juvenile Fillies (G1), race 8 at 3:50 p.m.
Dayoutoftheoffice races for Tim Hamm, also her trainer, and Siena Farm LLC, also her breeder. The dark bay filly has been perfect in three starts by a combined 12 ¾-lengths. After an easy debut maiden win at Gulfstream Park, she dominated the Schuylerville S. (G3) by six lengths, the took the Frizette (G1) in style. She has earned $216,500 to date.
Dayoutoftheoffice will be ridden by Junior Alvarado and breaks from post three in the compact field of seven going 1 1/16-miles.
Into Mischief sired the winners of three Breeders’ Cup races to date, with Goldencents taking back-to-back runnings of the Dirt Mile (G1) in 2013-14, and the brilliant filly Covfefe taking the Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) last year.
