Into Chocolate overcomes trouble to win Chillingworth S. (G3)
September 26, 2020
Into Mischief’s latest stakes winner Into Chocolate fought her way to victory in Friday’s $100,000 Chillingworth S. (G3) at Santa Anita Park for her first stakes win.
Racing along the rail behind horses for the first half-mile, Into Chocolate was boxed in as the field entered the stretch. With Hang a Star trying to pin her in, Into Chocolate finally bulled her way out with a furlong to run, then surged past Qahira in the final sixteenth to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:15.86 on a fast main track.
“She’s been feeling really good here since we got back (from Del Mar) and I could tell saddling her today that she was doing good and she was ready. Those were some nice fillies and it’s always good to win,” said trainer Clifford Sise, Jr.
Into Chocolate was bred by her owners Pam and Martin Wygod. The win upped her record to 4-2-2 from 11 starts and earnings to $216,031. Her dam Candy Drawer’s other foal, the 3-year-old filly Secret Keeper, also by Into Mischief is graded stakes-placed in just three starts to date.
Into Mischief now has 25 black type winners in 2020, two more than he had in all of 2019, when he was the champion sire.
