Breakout freshman sire Thousand Words was represented by another impressive debut winner in Andrea, who romped by 6 1/2 lengths in a Maiden Special Weight race July 26th at Gulfstream Park. She earned a solid 74 Beyer for the performance.
Ridden by Emisael Jaramillo and trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., the 2-year-old filly quickly set the pace in the 5 1/2-furlong race on dirt and easily drew away from the field in a time of 1:04.46.
Andrea was bred in Kentucky by Scott Pierce, who sold her to Sennebec South Farm for $30,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Pinhooked to the OBS April 2-Year-Olds-In-Training Sale, the talented filly breezed an impressive 9.4 under tack. She then sold to Kuehne Racing and Mark Corrado, with Saffie Joseph Jr. signing the ticket, for $105,000.
Andrea is out of the Tiznow mare Photoplay, and comes from the family of Grade 1 winner Film Maker. Thousand Words is in the top 3 on the First-Crop Sires List in North America, with 9 total winners and total progeny earnings of $551,982.
