I’m Betty G game in first stakes victory
July 16, 2017
Into Mischief got his latest stakes winner on Saturday at Laurel Park when the 3-year-old filly I’m Betty G battled to a nose victory in the $75,000 Pearl Necklace S.
I’m Betty G is Into Mischief’s 18th stakes horse of 2017, joining the likes of recent Dwyer S. (G3) winner Practical Joke and Southwest S. (G3) winner One Liner.
The Pearl Necklace was I’m Betty G’s first stakes outing. The bay filly led the very compact field through the first half-mile in :47.57 and was up by a length after six furlongs in 1:11.57.
At the top of the stretch, the stage was set for a dramatic finish when Riley’s Choice pulled up alongside I’m Betty G. The duo was inseparable to the wire, but I’m Betty G proved the best, getting the 1 1/16-miles in a very quick 1:40.29 on the firm turf.
The winner, who broke her maiden in her previous start, has now earned $60,240 for owner Three Diamonds Farm. She is out of Lady in Ermine, whose sister Sadler’s Sarah also won the Pearl Necklace.
