Hot Beach the first stakes winner for Omaha Beach
August 14, 2023
Top-five First-Crop sire Omaha Beach got his first stakes winner Sunday in the $150,000 Ellis Park Debutante when Hot Beach won the seven-furlong contest by two lengths.
Hot Beach also broke her maiden in the race for 2-year-old fillies, giving Omaha Beach his seventh winner as well. He is also the only sire on the First-Crop list with three stakes horses.
Hot Beach, who earned a very strong Beyer Speed Figure of 80 when second in her July 7 debut, broke well from her outside post and was never more than two lengths from the lead down the backstretch. She advanced three-wide around the turn and emerged with the lead entering the homestretch. She quickly opened up a two-length margin and held her spot the rest of the way to finish up in 1:24.32 on a fast track.
Hot Beach is trained by Bryan Lynch for Boardshorts Stables LLC. She sold for $400,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearlings sale.
“[Jockey] Declan [Cannon] has some magic going on right now,” said Lynch. “It’s great for the owners who are involved in this horse. Whenever they break their maiden in a stakes you know they could have a bright future. I think the sky is the limit with her.”
Bred by Cobalt Investments, LLC and out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Hot Water, Hot Beach Hot Beach is a half-sister to a trio of graded-stakes runners and traces back to champion 3-year-old filly Xtra Heat.
