Hit It a Bomb filly storms to victory in stakes debut
July 19, 2021
Puppymonkeybaby came flying through the stretch to win the $100,000 M. Tyson Gilipin S. Monday at Colonial Downs in the first stakes start for the 3-year-old Hit It a Bomb filly.
The dark bay filly was near the back of the pack for the first three furlongs of the 5 ½-furlong turf contest before swinging four-wide coming into the stretch. Full of run down the lane, she passed most of the field to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:02.81 on the firm turf.
Now a winner of two of her three lifetime starts, Puppymonkeybaby has earned $78,300 for Big Lick Farm. The winner was bred by Spendthrift Farm and is out of the stakes-placed Officer’s Holiday, who has five stakes-winning siblings, led by Pimlico Special (G1) winner Include and Grade 3 winner Magic Broad.
Hit It a Bomb has had an excellent past 30 days, with three stakes winners over the span, led by graded winner Hit It Dubai (ARG).
