September 13, 2014
Malibu Moon got his ninth stakes winner of 2014 Saturday evening when Grand Full Moon fought to a dead-heat win in the $75,000 Shakopee Juvenile at Canterbury Race Course.
With his nine stakes winners accounting for 10 stakes victories, Malibu Moon’s progeny have eclipsed $5.1 million in earnings this year.
Grand Full Moon had to chase down a loose leader in Native American, who had held the top spot throughout first five furlongs. Grand Full Moon made up two lengths in the final furlong to finish on even terms with the pacesetter, 4 ½-lengths clear of the field (VIDEO).
Grand Full Moon has now won two of his three starts, earning $51,600. The Mercedes Stable homebred colt is a half-brother to the stakes winner Kat Nan Do.
