Gormley’s Bron and Brow begins 2023 with stakes win
January 7, 2023
Bron and Brow, a stakes-winning son of Gormley as a 2-year-old, kicked off 2023 with a come-from-behind win in the Jan. 7 Gary Palmisano Memorial S. at Fair Grounds.
The 4-year-old, who also closed out last year with an allowance win over the same track, is now 4-3-1 in 10 starts and has earned $224,670 for owner Gary Barber.
Bron and Brow, in post 2 for the six furlong contest, broke alertly and made his way to the rail to take up a spot in third. He held his position until jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. swung three wide coming into the stretch. The dark bay slowly closed the gap and with one final surge got the wire a neck in front of Swot Analysis (VIDEO).
Bron and Brow sold to his owner for $200,000 at the OBS Spring 2021 2-year-old sale. He was bred by J. Adcock and Hume Wornall.
Gormley, a top-10 sire with each of his first two crops to race, is standing this year for $5,000 live foal.
