Goldencents colt ultra-sharp in stakes debut
July 17, 2022
That’s Right fired to the front out of the gate and never looked back in Sunday’s $100,000 My Frenchman S. at Monmouth Park, winning the 5 ½-furlong turf contest by 3 ¼-lengths.
The 3-year-old Goldencents colt is undefeated since switching to the turf three starts back. He has won those races by a combined 13 ½-lengths.
That’s Right is the fifth stakes winner of 2022 for Goldencents. The Spendthrift stallion leads all Fifth-Crop sires with 125 individual winners and is second by progeny earnings, with $3.88 million to date.
As he did in his two prior turf starts, That’s Right went straight to the lead and was up by two lengths after a quarter-mile in:22.29. At the top of the stretch he was up by four and powered through the lane to finish up in 1:02.46, earning his second straight Beyer Speed Figure of 90.
“He is a totally different horse on the turf, the way he moves, everything about him,” said That’s Right’s trainer Michael Moore. “This race was another test with better horses, but as I told the owner (James Shannon, Jr.) after the race `he came off the turn like he did in the allowance race in his last start.’ He was four or five lengths in front of them. And there were some good horses in this field.”
With the win, That’s Right is 3-1-2 in nine starts and has earned $154,150. He was bred in Kentucky by Edward Seltzer.
