Golden Mischief chalks up third stakes win in $150K Purple Martin S.
March 26, 2017
Golden Mischief’s third stakes win in Saturday’s $150,000 Purple Martin S. at Oaklawn Park came after Our Majesty was disqualified from first following interference on the backstretch.
Golden Mischief, a 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, was a few lengths off a very lively early pace. Our Majesty, who came in severely on Chanel’s Legacy in the midway on the backstretch run, had the lead the entire way. Golden Mischief was five-wide on the turn, then slipped through an opening in the stretch to be a clear second before being named the official winner after the disqualification (VIDEO).
The six furlongs were run in 1:10.55.
“I want to thank God, the owners, and the trainer Steve Asmussen for giving me a chance to ride a really nice filly. She broke well and finished well,” said winning rider Geovanni Franco.
Golden Mischief was a two-time stakes winner last year at two and is now 5-2-0 in 10 starts and has banked $266,730 for owners William and Corinne Heiligbrodt.
The winner was bred in Kentucky by Fredericka Caldwell and sold to her owners for $180,000 at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale.
A Top-10 General Sire of 2017, Into Mischief is responsible for top-class runners such as Southwest S. (G3) winner One Liner, Fountain of Youth (G2) runner-up Practical Joke, and the stakes-winner 3-year-old filly Miss Sunset.
