Georgees Spirit flies late for Saratoga MdSpWt win

First-Crop sire Mor Spirit now has a half-dozen maiden special weight winners after Georgees Spirit showed a huge turn of foot in the final furlong to score a half-length victory Sept. 1 at Saratoga.
The 2-year-old filly was bottled up behind and between horses most of the 5 ½-furlong trip. She was several lengths back in seventh at the top of the stretch before finding running room with a furlong to go. She moved to the center of the track and with a remarkable move flew past the leaders in the final strides to finish in 1:05.25 on a “good” turf course.
Georgees Spirit is owned by her trainer Jorge Abreu along with Robert Photos and Sportsmen Stable. The dark bay was bred in Kentucky by Mike Pietrangelo.
Georgees Spirit sold for $80,000 at the 2021 OBS October Yearling sale. He dam March On had a full brother to Georgees Spirit in 2021.
