January 5, 2016
Spendthrift Farm’s Itsmyluckyday, the record-breaking Grade 1-winning millionaire, sired his first reported foal Monday, January 4th when a chestnut filly was born at Lake Hamilton Equine in Royal, Arkansas.
Bred by Tim Harris, the filly is the first foal out of the 5-year-old mare Mama’s Mad Money, a juvenile stakes winner and multiple stakes-placed performer on the racetrack.
Itsmyluckyday was a nine-time winner and earner of $1,706,350, including eight stakes victories, during his illustrious racing career. His biggest win came in the 2014 Woodward S. (G1) at Saratoga as a 4-year-old, and he also accounted for graded victories in Monmouth’s Salvator Mile (G3) at four and Gulfstream’s Holy Bull S. (G3) at three.
In the Holy Bull, Itsmyluckyday handed 2-year-old champion Shanghai Bobby his first defeat and established a new track record for 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.81. Later that spring, he enjoyed success on the 2013 Triple Crown trail, finishing a close runner-up to Oxbow in the Preakness S. (G1).
By Lawyer Ron, Itsmyluckyday was also a multiple stakes winner at two. He retired sound to Spendthrift where he covered 127 mares in his first season at stud in 2015. Itsmyluckyday is set to stand his second season for a fee of $6,500 S&N, and is available through Spendthrift’s “Breed Secure” program for a fee of $8,000.
