Free Drop Billy filly wins debut with rail-skimming trip

Pasta Salad Rhonda came from well off the pace to capture her first lifetime start in a 1 mile and 70 yard maiden special weight race on Oct. 15 at Hawthorne (WATCH RACE).

Pasta Salad Rhonda was unhurried after breaking from post seven in the two-turn race. She inched a bit closer to the front down the backstretch, then made up more ground on the final turn. When an opening appeared along the fence in mid-stretch, she came through smartly and forged clear to win by three-quarters of a length.
The winner races for John Mentz and Hugh Roberston, the latter also her trainer. She was bred in Kentucky by Terry Hamilton
