Flat Out filly takes hotly contested turf maiden
December 16, 2017
Song of Melody had pressure on the front end the entire time of her one-mile turf contest on Friday at Gulfstream Park, but the 2-year-old Flat Out filly dug deep in the late stages to register a two-length win to earn her diploma.
Flat Out is one of the most prolific First-Crop sires of winners, with 19 to date, third-most for any active North American freshman sire.
Song of Melody dueled with Psycho Girl the first five furlongs, then got stiff challenges from Thanks Mom and Caitlin’satthebar before putting both foes away late to secure the win.
The winner was bred by Malibu Farm LLC and is owned by Blue River Bloodstock and Hernandez Racing Club. Song of Melody’s dam Song of Hours is a sister to Grade 1 winners No Matter What and E Dubai.
