Flashy Gem gives leading First-Crop sire Bolt d’Oro his 10th winner

Bolt d’Oro had his 10th First-Crop winner on Aug. 14 at Ellis Park when Flashy Gem cruised to a 5 ½-length maiden special weight victory in front-running style.
Flashy Gem, a Malibu Farm LLC homebred, shot right to the lead in the one-mile turf affair and led the field through a leisurely half-mile in :49.72. On the far turn What an Honor got within a half-length, but Flashy Gem easily dispatched her in upper stretch and drew off for a comfortable win in 1:37.98 on the firm turf.
Out of Garnet, Flashy Gem is a half-sister to Soaring Softly S. (G3) winner Bye Bye. Garnet has a weanling half-brother by Gormley and was bred to Authentic this term.
Bolt d’Oro’s 10 winners include a trio of stakes horses, the latest coming on Sunday as well, went Agency was a good second in the $125,000 Best Pal S. (G3) at Del Mar.
