Flash of Mischief dominant in Oaklawn’s Ring the Bell S.
December 11, 2022
Flash of Mischief made short work of his competition in Saturday’s $150,000 Ring the Bell S. at Oaklawn Park, rolling to a 7 ¾-length win in the six-furlong contest (WATCH RACE).
A 4-year-old son of Into Mischief, Flash of Mischief is one of two dozen stakes winners this year by his sire. With a little less than three weeks remaining in 2022, Into Mischief has a record $27,495,120 in progeny earnings, shattering his 2021 record of just over $25 million.
Flash of Mischief, last seen in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1), broke from the rail in the Ring the Bell. He allowed Kavod and Chattalot to set the pace as he tracked the top pair through the first three furlongs. Midway on the turn, he came off the rail and with a bold move circled past the leaders as he straightened for home. The early leaders offered no resistance as Flash of Mischief ran up the score late to finish the six furlongs in 1:11.13 on a sloppy track.
“He’s a nice horse,” said jockey Cristian Torres. “We had the perfect trip. Everything I asked, he did it. He showed up.”
Flash of Mischief now has five stakes wins and earnings of $774,901 for his owner/breeder Jerry Namy.
