First stakes win for Into Mischief colt
May 8, 2016
Ossetra scampered to a one-length victory in Saturday’s $75,000 Tall Stacks S. at Belterra Park, the first stakes start and victory for the 3-year-old Into Mischief colt.
Going 6 1/2-furlongs on the main course, Ossetra got a confident ride as the 6-5 favorite under Rodney Prescott, tracking along in fourth before being roused to the lead entering the stretch, quickly pulling away for a handy win in 1:17.12.
Ossetra was making his first start for owner Michael Foster and trainer Bill Cowans after transferring from the Bob Baffert barn. With the win, the colt is 2-1-0 in four starts, with earnings of $76,880.
Bred by Ryan and Bedell Conboy, Ossetra comes from the same female family as Forty Niner, the 1987 2-year-old champion colt who won $2.7 million in his brilliant career.
