First Shakin It Up 2YO sells for $150K at OBS
March 14, 2018
Shakin It Up, whose first crop are 2-year-olds in 2018, had his first juvenile of the year go through the auction ring Wednesday at the OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale.
Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners placed the winning bid of $150,000, which was 15 times the bred-on stud fee. The filly was cataloged as hip No. 312 and consigned by SBM Training and Sales, agent.
The dark bay filly, who worked a swift eighth-mile in 10.1 seconds at the Under Tack Show, is out of the unraced Majestic Warrior mare Fay Na Na, who is a half-sister to a pair of stakes horses and from the same female family as Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Concern.
Shakin It Up, who won the Malibu S. (G1) and San Vicente S. (G2) at three, was able to stretch his speed when taking the Strub S. (G2) at four, is standing this year at Spendthrift for $5,000 live foal.
