July 12, 2023
Thousand Words provided some drama late in Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale session when a filly by the First-Crop yearling sire sold for $250,000.
The filly was one of two lots by the Spendthrift stallion to bring at least $150,000, while his overall average of $102,400, was more than 20 times his stud fee.
Consigned by Gainesway, agent, hip No. 351 went to the Stanley Stables.
The chestnut filly is out of the graded stakes-placed Izshelegal, who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Comfort and Mexican champion Igor (MEX). Third dam Katz Me if You Can was a multiple graded winner, while fourth dam Cuddles won the Hollywood Starlet (G1).
Thousand Words entered stud at Spendthrift in 2021. Through his first two years at stud, he bred an average of 153 mares.
