Eutychia wins tough MdSpWt battle
October 4, 2018
Itsmyluckyday’s first crop of runners have shown heart all year long, maybe none more so than Eutychia, who won a three-way photo to break her maiden by a neck on Oct. 4 at Remington Park (VIDEO).
The six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies was loaded with drama. Northern Dynasty, in post 1, lost her rider at the break and sped up past the entire field in the first furlong. Eutychia, in post 9, was five-wide on the backstretch will dropping well off the pace.
On the turn, the loose horse caused the leader Runaround Rosey to go extremely wide before she regained momentum in the stretch. Eutychia, meanwhile, was rallying between horses and found her best stride in deep stretch to grab the win.
The winner is owned by her breeder Robert Lewis, along with Patrick Swan.
Itsmyluckday now has eight first-crop winners, fourth among all Freshman Sires of 2018. Spendthrift Farm recently announced his 2019 stud fee at $3,500 live foal.
