Race Day colt clocks co-fastest 10.1 furlong on Day 1 at Timonium
May 15, 2019
The first crop of multiple graded stakes winner Race Day showed extremely well during the Under Tack show for the May 20-21 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-year-olds, topped by a colt that breezed a furlong in 10 1/5 seconds, co-fastest of the first session on Tuesday.
The gray/roan colt, hip No. 152, is consigned by Kings Equine Agent on behalf of Spendthrift Farm. The Kentucky-bred will sell during Monday’s session.
The colt’s dam Flashy Lassie took the Churchill Downs Debutante (G3) at two; this is her third foal.
Buyers will have six opportunities to bid on six juveniles by Race Day during next week’s auction. To date this year, his 2-year-olds have sold for $170,000, $150,000 and $125,000 at OBS.
Race Day is one of six Spendthrift first-crop stallions participating in the farm’s Safe Bet program in 2019, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of 2-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
