Dornoch and National Treasure named Eclipse Award Finalists

Dornoch and National Treasure, who are new to the Spendthrift Farm stallion roster for 2025, were both named finalists for Eclipse Awards when the list was released on Jan. 5.

Dornoch is one of the finalist in the 3-year-old Male category, while National Treasure is nominated for Older Dirt Male honors.

Winners in each category will be announced at the Eclipse Awards ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Dornoch emerged as a top contender in the 3-year-old division after capturing consecutive victories in two of the most prestigious races this summer: the 1 ¼-mile Belmont Stakes (G1) at Saratoga and the Haskell Stakes (G1) at Monmouth Park. Earlier in the year, he also secured a win in the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park. He retired in late September with career earnings of $2,427,275 and is standing in 2025 for $40,000 S&N.

National Treasure, a son of leading sire Quality Road, won the historic Metropolitan H. (G1) by a half-dozen lengths and started his 2024 campaign with a win in the Pegasus World Cup Inv. (G1). As a 3-year-old, National Treasure won the Preakness (G1). He retired to Spendthrift with earnings of $5,578,000. His 2025 fee is $40,000 S&N.
