The bay Armando Hernandez trainee is the first stakes winner of the year for Into Mischief, who wrapped up 2023 with his fifth consecutive title as the leading sire in North America with over $26 million in progeny earnings.
Devil’s Tower was unhurried from the gate in Friday night’s five-furlong contest and was some 10 lengths off the lead as the field entered the turn. He closed the gap somewhat on the bend while racing in the middle of the track, then flew through the stretch to win by a half-length in :58.14 on a sloppy racetrack.
The winner is owned by Antonio Donato and was bred by Shortleaf Stable. The Kentucky-bred’s record is now 14-1-1 in 29 lifetime starts.
