Danza filly takes turf debut at Woodbine
July 20, 2019
Muskoka Dancer became the second winner for First-Crop sire Danza with a front-running score in a six-furlong maiden special weight affair on the Woodbine turf on July 20.
Breaking very alertly from post 2, the bay filly led the field of 2-year-olds through fractions of :22.65 and :46.23, then drew clear in the stretch and was going along very comfortably to score by 1 ½-lengths in 1:10.60 on the firm turf.
Muskoka Dancer is owned by her breeder Joey Gee Thoroughbreds. Out of the Quiet American mare Asheba, Muskoka Dancer’s third dam is Gana Facil, the dam of champion Unbridled and Grade 1 winner Cahill Road.
Danza is one of Spendthrift’s freshman sire participating in the farm’s Safe Bet Program, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
