Danza has 2 bullet workers from first juveniles at OBS April
April 19, 2019
Danza’s first crop of two-year-olds have presented themselves very well during this week’s OBS Under Tack show, including being one of three stallions with a pair of bullet workers.
Hip 167, a filly, breezed the co-fastest quarter mile in :21 seconds flat (VIDEO) during the opening session Tuesday for consignor Wavertree Stables. A day later, hip 478, another filly, had the co-fastest furlong breeze at :09 4/5 seconds (VIDEO).
“We were hoping she would work well,” consignor Lori Fackler said of Hip 478. “She’s just done everything right. She is very athletic and she’s just an elegant filly. When we took her over to OBS, she just floated. So we had our fingers crossed that everything would go well and it did today.”
On Thursday, hip 754, a colt consigned by Richardson Bloodstock rolled through a furlong in :10 1/5 seconds.
Grade 1 winner Danza captured his biggest victory in the 2014 Arkansas Derby (G1), winning by 4 3/4 lengths and earning a 101 Beyer. Aside from American Pharoah, the performance marks the fastest and most dominant in the last dozen runnings.
Danza is one of six Spendthrift first-crop stallions participating in the farm’s Safe Bet program in 20129, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
