Dame Plata records fourth career stakes win in dramatic fashion
May 19, 2022
Dame Plata, a 6-year-old son of Cross Traffic, overcame traffic trouble at the top of the Canterbury Downs stretch to dead-heat with Thealligatorhunter in the $50,000 10,000 Lakes S. on May 18.
A model of consistency throughout his career, Dame Plata has won or placed in eight stakes, posted a record of 12-5-4 in 28 career starts, and earned $391,876 for Lori Bravo and Ann Sachdev.
Dame Plata was in the second tier of horses early on in Wednesday’s six-furlong race, and found himself trapped behind three foes turning for home. When an opening appeared along the inside, Dame Plata shot through and battled all the way to the wire with Thealligatorhunter. The duo stopped the timer in 1:09.37 on a fast track.
Dame Plata is one of a half-dozen stakes horses this year for Cross Traffic. He was bred by Sugarland Thoroughbreds, LLC. His dam Dana’s Lucky Lady has produced no less six stakes horses, including Dame Plata’s full brother Rush Hour Traffic, a two-time stakes winner, and his half-sister La Glamorosa, a multiple graded winner in Puerto Rico.
