Cross Traffic’s Dame Plata a two-time SW
September 3, 2018
Undefeated Dame Plata made it three straight wins with a gallant victory in Sunday’s $100,000 Northern Lights Futurity S. at Canterbury Park, defeating Mister Banjoman by three-quarters of a length.
This was the first black type win for the 2-year-old son of Cross Traffic, who had a maiden win and a restricted stakes score to his credit prior to Sunday.
Cross Traffic has emerged as a leading First-Crop Sire with nine winners to date, second only to fellow Spendthrift freshman sire Goldencents.
With Mister Banjoman setting the pace, Dame Plata stalked in second until engaging the leader at the top of the stretch. The duo pulled away from the rest of the field, and it wasn’t until the final sixteenth that Dame Plata put away his stubborn foe to claim victory. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:10.13 on a fast track.
Dame Plata has now earned $110,400 for owners Lori Bravo and Ann Sachdev. The gray/roan juvenile was bred by Sugarland Thoroughbreds. His dam Dana’s Lucky Lady produced a full sister to Dame Plata in 2017 and was bred back to Cross Traffic this year.
