Corruze gets first stakes win in $200K Caesars S.
September 5, 2019
Leading sire Into Mischief got his 16th stakes winner of the year on Sept. 4 at Indiana Downs when the 3-year-old colt Corruze was named the winner of the $200,000 Caesars S. in a wild four-horse blanket finish.
Though he originally crossed the wire in second just a nose behind Spectacular Gem, Corruze was awarded the win by the stewards after disqualifying the original first-place finisher to fourth for interference with two foes in deep stretch.
Corruze was midpack for the first half-mile before dropping back around the final turn. It wasn’t until the top of the stretch he regained his momentum and came flying late in the blanket finish. The time for the mile on the firm turf was 1:38.01.
Owned by Chris Wilkins, Corruze has won half of his six starts and earned $182,389. He was bred in Kentucky by Marth Jane and John Henry Mulholland.
