Come Dancing back strong in Honorable Miss H. (G2)

Malibu Moon’s millionaire mare Come Dancing scored a come-from-behind win in Sunday’s $150,000 Honorable Miss H. (G2) at Saratoga for the 6-year-old’s fifth career graded stakes win.

With Lady’s Island intent on getting the early lead, Come Dancing settled several lengths off the pace from her inside post position. Lady’s Island flew through a half-mile in :43.81, and the hot pace took its toll, and Come Dancing’s class came through in the final furlong as she split horses to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:08.74 for the six furlongs on the fast track.

“I race almost exclusively fillies. They get to a point where you feel like it’s time and they want to go on and breed and move on to the next phase of their career. That was not the case with Come Dancing,” said winning owner/breeder Marc Holliday of Blue Devil Racing Stable. “This horse is happiest when she is on the racetrack and when it’s race day. I felt it wouldn’t be fair to put the horse out to pasture a year too early. I hope to have Come Dancing babies for the next 15 to 20 years; we’ll see when that happens.”

Come Dancing has now won graded stakes in three consecutive years while earning $1,186,783 and winning nine of 18 lifetime starts.

One of 122 stakes winners, 49 graded stakes winners and 17 Grade I winners for Malibu Moon, Come Dancing is the lone black-type runner thus far out of Tizahit, who captured the GII Demoiselle S. as a juvenile in 2009. Third dam Jeano was a two-time graded stakes winner and produced the dam of champion Folklore.
