October 29, 2023
Coastal Invasion won a very spirited stretch duel in a $122,250 maiden special weight race Sunday at Churchill Downs, capping a week that saw Omaha Beach tally two maiden winners and two stakes horses over the past five days.
Omaha Beach now has 18 individual winners with earnings of $1,575,422, second-most on the First-Crop sire list. He leads all freshman sires with eight stakes horses and four graded horses.
Coastal Invasion, who was making her debut in the six-furlong race, broke very alertly from post 10 and got the lead in the first furlong. She flew through a quarter-mile in :21.97, and after a half in :45.68, entered the homestretch on nearly even terms with Blue Squall. The two raced as a team until the final sixteen, when Coastal Invasion forged ahead to win by a length in 1:11.83 over the sloppy going [WATCH RACE].
The winner is owned by Hoffman Family Racing, LLC and Schwing Thoroughbreds and sold for $700,000 at this year’s OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training.
Coastal Invasion was bred by William Duignan and Tranquility Investments. The filly’s dam Intelyhente is a full sister to Alcibiades S. (G2) winner Bel Air Beauty.
