Coal Front’s first OBS 2yo Sale offering tagged for $150,000

Coal Front, whose first crop are 2-year-olds of 2022, had his first juvenile at the OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale bring a final bid that was 30 times his stud fee.
Hip No. 458, offered by Top Line Sales, agent on during Tuesday’s session, brought a winning bid of $150,000 from Taproot on behalf of John Murrel.
The dark bay colt is out of stakes-placed Fairy Star (AUS), a daughter of More Than Ready, who is a half-sister to graded-stakes placed winners Lizard Island and Marsannay.
In 2022 Coal Front had the distinction of having the highest yearling average of any stallion standing in North America for $5,000 or less. On the racetrack, Coal Front was a graded stakes winner in all three of his campaigns and amassed over $1.8 million in earnings. He is standing this year at Spendthrift for $5,000 live foal.
