Coal Front colt handles off track for third stakes win
May 5, 2024
Good and Stout rallied from just off the pace to take the Ragin Cajun S. by 2 ¾-lengths Saturday evening at Evangeline Downs, marking the third career stakes victory for the 3-year-old son of Coal Front.
The dark bay colt’s two prior stakes wins came during his 2-year-old campaign. This year he was twice stakes-placed before Saturday’s win. Good and Stout is one of five winners already this month for his sire.
After taking a bit to get into stride, Good and Stout moved into fourth while racing well off the fence. He came three-wide on the turn to battle for the top spot turning for home, then hit his best stride in the final furlong and won going away [WATCH RACE].
Now 3-2-2 in nine starts, Good and Stout is owned by Whispering Oaks Farm LLC and has earned $175,500. He was bred by Adcock’s Red River Farm, LLC and Hume Wornall.
