Cloud Computing colt finishes strong to win $200,000 Super Derby
September 2, 2023
Big Data forged his way to the lead in the final sixteenth to win the $200,000 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs by three-quarters of a length over No White Flags.
The 3-year-old Cloud Computing colt was making his stakes debut in Saturday’s 1 1/8-mile contest. The victory comes just one week after Zajarova (CHI) earned a Group 1 victory for Cloud Computing, who has four stakes winners and eight stakes horses overall from his second crop.
Big Data was off the pace in the three path around the first turn before moving to the rail on the backstretch. He tracked behind horses as he waited for room to open up on the final turn. When space finally appeared in upper stretch, Big Data responded with a resolute finish to get the lead and finish up in 1:51.83 on the fast main track.
Big Data, owned by Petal Power Racing Stable, has compiled a solid record of 3-4-0 in nine starts and earned $213,680. Bred in Kentucky by Kim Boulmetis, Big Data is the first foal out of Moxie, who was bred to Cloud Computing for 2024.
