Clearly Unhinged heads 1-2 finish for Into Mischief in the Winning Colors-G3

May 27, 2024

Clearly Unhinged was the star of Monday’s $250,000 Winning Colors S. (G3), winning the six-furlong race at Churchill Downs by 1 ½-lengths over Dazzling Blue to complete an Into Mischief-sired exacta.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Clearly Unhinged broke well and pressed B G Warrior through a scorching quarter mile of :21.02. The torrid pace took its toll on the early leader and Clearly Unhinged took over with three furlongs to run. The bay filly stayed strong in the stretch to defeat a game Dazzling Blue in 1:09.69 on a fast main track.

“Anytime you see a horse go :21 flat you get a little nervous,” said Asmussen’s assistant Scott Blasi. “She’s a very talented filly and very thankful John Sikura (co-owner with Jarret Prussin) sent her to us. We’ll probably send her north to Saratoga this summer and, hopefully, get her to the Breeders’ Cup.”

Clearly Unhinged placed in both the La Brea S. (G1) and Test S. (G1) last term and is now 4-2-1 in nine starts, with earnings of $505,235. Bred by Rock Brothers Breeder LLC in Kentucky, she is the first foal out of Smart Win, who is a daughter of grade winner Win McCool, herself a sister to Grade 1 winner Harmony Lodge and multiple graded-winning millionaire Graeme Hall.
